Using twitter for events

June 13, 2010 Comments off

I am confused when I go to an event, and people are just re tweeting what the speaker says.  Isnt the point of twitter at an event to share a subconversation with the attendees.  But I guess this depends on if people are engaged and using twitter?

making statements

Even making a statement that you are not making a statement is saying something.

But if you stay still, you are moving backwards.  I feel like thats from some fancy book I read in graduate school.

How foursquare points change my life

May 12, 2010 Comments off

I just completed my first check in Mount Pleasant.

I am curious on how now I have “points” . What does that mean ? Who am I competing against? maybe if enough of my friends checked in,  I would get competative, but I am not sure that i would reach out to stranger based on ” oh, you eat here too” .  But, I think its an interesting model.

I wonder how I can use this tool?

Collaboration vs compromise

May 10, 2010 Comments off

Collaboration is not always an option. Often a designer finds themself in a tough decision where they have to make a choice. You can either stand up to a client and show them a better solution OR step back and patiently choose to see what you can learn from the experience from their POV.  In what instances do either of these choices have a maximum benefit. OR, does being in the position where you have to make a choice mean that their was a bad person/ job fit, and this compromise was a collaboration gone bad?

taxi lights

Why don’t taxis have a different lighting system to tell passengers if they are “open.” I would like a system similar to port-a-johns. Green open, red, get the next cab.   C’mon people, lets get some LEDs and make this happen.
