UX: layering website graphics to create unique asymetrical grid: Fringe

February 9, 2010

I love the Fringe website via fox.

In addition to secret clickable areas, I like how they have put headers and footers on traditional square div/table areas to give a more dynamic feel. If you overlay some basic shapes over the layout, it makes sense, but what a great visual effect.

This was a good case study for me as I go into more studies about slicing images up for use in html. The design of this website really thinks about how to “hack” existing frameworks to be both efficient and edgy.
