Creating more colorful and stylistic QR codes

Simplified version of extreme halftone version presented in earlier post. Love the aesthetics of this piece.
Why are so many QR codes in black and white. Although I fully understand the utility of codes to be functional in form, what we believe in at QR Arts is to balance the technical with the aesthetic values that can be achieved with QR codes. Make them pop, and stand out.
WE believe in making QR codes as unique and valuable as the content that you are linking them to. Lets create a better user experience.

Patick, Great post, and it is appreciated that you have brought this to the attention of designers and those concerned about the rather stark nature of the basic black and white QR code. Brands will be hesitant to introduce the code unless it compliments their look and feel. I have commented further on this topic at my blog as well were more examples can be found: http://qrmonkey.com.
